Delete Assessments

User Roles

This feature may be available to:

  • Assessors and Trainee Assessors
  • Learners

The ability to delete an assessment depends on who started it and whether it is linked to a plan or template.

Determining Who Can Delete an Assessment

Follow the decision logic below:

1. Is the assessment linked to an Assessment Plan?

  • Yes → Only the Assessor can delete it.
  • No → Continue to next check.

Important: If the assessment is linked to a plan, you will see a link on the top‑right of the assessment directing you to the plan.

2. Is the assessment still linked to the plan?

  • Yes → Only the Assessor can delete it.
  • No → Only the user who started the assessment can delete it.

3. Was the assessment created from an Assessment Template?

  • Yes
    • Started by the Assessor → Only the Assessor can delete it.
    • Started by the Learner → Only the Learner can delete it.
  • No
    • Started by the Assessor → Only the Assessor can delete it.
    • Started by the Learner → Only the Learner can delete it.

Important Notes

  • The assessment must be locked to the user who is allowed to delete it — otherwise the Delete button will not appear.

Unlocking Assessments

Use the Padlock icon to unlock the assessment to the correct user (based on the logic above).

Unlocking can be performed by:

  • Assessors
  • Internal Verifiers (IV/IQA)
  • Centre Managers

More guidance on unlocking assessments can be found here.

Assessments Linked to Plans

  • If the assessment is linked to a plan → Only the Assessor can delete it.
  • If the plan has already been deleted → The user who started the assessment must delete it.
  • Always delete the assessment before deleting the plan if removal is required.

Tips & Notes

  • If the Delete button is missing, check who started the assessment and whether it is still linked to a plan.
  • Unlocking the assessment to the correct user will usually resolve missing delete options.
  • Use the plan link at the top of the assessment to verify linking status.
