Claiming Learner Support Funding

Overview

This guide explains how to add Learner Support Funding records using the Support and Bursary Funding section within a learner’s ILR record. The process differs depending on whether the learner has a Programme Aim.

Before You Begin

  • If the learner has a Programme Aim, all Support and Bursary details must be recorded on the Programme Aim.
  • If the learner does not have a Programme Aim, record Support and Bursary Funding on the individual component aims.

➕ Adding a Learner Support Funding Record

  1. Use one of Tracker’s search tools to locate and open the learner record.
  2. Select the relevant Programme or Aims tab.
  3. Scroll down to the Support and Bursary Funding section.
  4. Click the History button.
  5. Select Change Current Support and Bursary Funding Details.
  6. Choose Learning Support from the drop-down list.
  7. Enter the Start and End dates for the support period.
  8. Click Save.

➕ Adding a Care Leaver Bursary

  1. Use one of Tracker’s search tools to locate and load the learner record.
  2. Select the Programme tab.
  3. Scroll to field A69.
  4. Enter code 04 to record a Care Leaver Bursary.
Please refer to the DfE guidance for full details

Tips & Notes

  • Ensure funding periods do not overlap unless justified by ESFA rules.
  • Support records must be accurate for ILR compliance and audit readiness.
  • If the History button is greyed out, confirm you are updating the correct Programme Aim or component aim.
