Understanding Validation Rules in Data Bridge

Overview

Validation rules check incoming data before it's accepted into Onefile. When a record fails a rule, Data Bridge tells you which field failed and the value that caused it, so you can find and fix the row in your source system.

User Roles

This feature can be used by:

  • Centre Manager

How Validation Failures Are Reported

  • Failures are written to the agent's log, labelled with the record's MIS ID, with the failing value quoted — for example, Field 'DateOfBirth' = '31/13/2001' is not a valid date.
  • The same messages are sent to the portal and shown against the run under Execution results.
  • A run that completes with some records failing finishes with exit code 1 (partial success) — the run completed, but those records didn't go through.

Tips & Notes

  • Use the quoted value and the record's MIS ID to locate and correct the row in your source system, then re-run the job.
  • A date that needs to match in Onefile must be in yyyy-MM-dd format — use a DateConvert transformation rule on the mapping if your source format differs.
