Overview
You can bring a learner's finalised RPL skills assessment scores into Onefile Eportfolio as their first Scorecard entry. This is a two-step process: first you export the successful assessment from RPL as a file, then the learner's Assessor imports that file into the learner's Scorecard. When the scores are imported, a matching rating scale is imported in the background to mirror the one used in RPL. You can also automate this activity though Onefile Events.
User Roles
Each step is carried out by different roles:

Part 1: Export the Skills Assessment from RPL
Before you export, make sure:
- An applicant has been created in RPL and has filled in and submitted their skills assessment.
- The applicant's tutor has finalised the skills assessment and marked it as Successful — you can only export successful applications.
- Log in to RPL.
- Click Manage applications.
- Click the successful skills assessment.
- Click Export scores.
- The JSON file will download. This file is encrypted, so no changes can be made to it.
Part 2: Import the Assessment into a Scorecard
For the import to be successful:
- The Learning Hub is enabled on your Centre.
- The apprenticeship standard the RPL learner completed a skills assessment for is assigned to the Eportfolio Centre.
- The learner is assigned to the same apprenticeship standard they completed in RPL.
- The learner hasn't already completed any Scorecards — you can only import scores for the initial Scorecard.
- Login to Onefile Eportfolio.
- Navigate to the learner's portfolio.
- Click Scorecard.
- Click Import scores.
- Select the JSON file.
⚠️ Important: There is currently no validation to check the learner's name or details across both systems, so make sure you upload the right file to the correct learner.
Checking the Import Worked
- Imported Scorecards are labelled Imported from RPL on the main Scorecard page.
- When viewing the Scorecard, the status label in the top right shows Imported.
- A rating scale that matches the one used in RPL is imported automatically in the background.
Tips & Notes
- You can only import scores as a learner's initial Scorecard, so import before any other Scorecard is completed for them.
- The learning aim IDs need to be to the same between RPL and Eportfolio.
- The exported JSON file is encrypted and cannot be edited — always export a fresh file rather than reusing an amended one.
