Why Can't I Access the Inclusion Module After Enabling It?

✨ Frequently Asked Question
This article forms part of our Inclusion Module FAQ series.

Overview

If you have enabled the Inclusion Module but still cannot see it or access certain areas, the issue is usually related to permissions rather than the module itself.

Access to the Inclusion Module is controlled at multiple levels to ensure learner support information remains secure and is only available to authorised users.

How Access is Controlled

Access to the Inclusion Module is controlled through four layers:

  1. The Inclusion Module must be enabled at Centre level.
  2. The user's role must have permission to access the module.
  3. Any user-specific permission overrides must allow access.
  4. Learner-level access must be enabled where learner access is required.

If any of these settings prevent access, the module or specific areas within it may not be visible.

Common Causes

The Module Has Not Been Enabled

A Centre Manager must first enable the Inclusion Module. If this has not been completed, no users will be able to access the functionality.

Your User Role Does Not Have Access

Permissions are typically assigned at role level. A user may be unable to access the module if their role has been configured with:

  • No Access
  • Read Only access to restricted areas
  • Inherited permissions that do not grant access

A User Override Is Restricting Access

Centres can apply permission overrides to individual users. These settings take priority over role permissions and may prevent access even when the role has been configured correctly.

You Are Expecting Learner Access

Learner access to the Inclusion Module is disabled by default. Enabling the module for staff does not automatically give learners access.

How to Check Access

  1. Confirm the Inclusion Module has been enabled for the Centre.
  2. Review the permissions assigned to your role.
  3. Check for any user-specific permission overrides.
  4. Verify learner access settings if testing as a learner.
  5. Perform a full browser refresh to ensure you are viewing the latest version of the page.

? Tip: If you've recently enabled the Inclusion Module and cannot see the changes, try refreshing your browser using Ctrl + F5 (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac).

What Access Do Assessors Have?

Assessors (or Skills Coaches if that terminology is used by your Centre) inherit their access from the Assessor role permissions configured by a Centre Manager.

Each area of the Inclusion Module can be configured as:

  • Inherit
  • No Access
  • Read Only
  • Read/Write

Tips & Notes

  • Permission issues are the most common reason for the Inclusion Module not appearing.
  • Learner visibility and learner access are controlled separately.
  • User-level overrides take precedence over role-level permissions.
  • Access to settings areas is typically restricted to Centre Managers.
  • Practice sites can be used to test permissions before enabling the module in a live Centre.

Terminology
