How to Enable a Metric in Engage
Overview
Metrics in Engage measure different areas of a learner's progress, such as scorecard results, planned end dates and overdue tasks. Each metric belongs to a metric group and has a weighting and risk value that feed into the learner's Overall risk.
When a metric is disabled, it stays in its metric group but is left out of the overall risk calculation. Enabling the metric adds its weighting and risk value back into the overall risk calculation.

This feature can be used by:
- Admin
Steps to Enable a Metric
- Click Metrics in the navigation menu.
- Select the tab for the metric group that contains the metric, for example Default group
- Find the metric you want to enable. Disabled metrics show a grey Disabled label next to their name, and their details are greyed out.
- Click the three dots (⋮) at the end of the metric's row.
- Select Enable metric.
- In the Enable Metric pop-up, click Enable metric to confirm. Click Cancel if you want to leave the metric disabled.
A Metric enabled message appears, and the Disabled label is removed from the metric.
Tips & Notes
- Enabling a metric uses the weighting and risk value already set up for it. To change these, edit the metric.
- Risk scores refresh overnight, unless Refresh Metrics is clicked, so learners' overall risk may not change straight away.
- To take a metric out of the overall risk calculation again, disable it from the same menu.
