On Thursday, 18th June 2026, we’ll be rolling out a series of improvements to Enrol Onboarding.

BTEC - Summative Feedback (Process)

Overview

Summative Feedback is required for assessments following the BTEC workflow. Internal Quality Assurers (IQAs) ensure that Assessors provide appropriate feedback before the assessment can be signed off. This feedback becomes visible to Learners, Employers, and Observers once the IQA releases each piece of feedback via a Report.

This feature can be used by:

  • Internal Quality Assurer

Centre Setting

To enable the requirement for BTEC Summative Feedback, ensure the following setting is activated:

  • Require assessors to provide summative feedback (BTEC assessments only)

How Summative Feedback Works

  • This requirement applies only to Assessments using the BTEC Workflow.
  • Summative Feedback only becomes visible on Learner Started Assessments.
  • Feedback becomes visible to:
    • Learners
    • Employers
    • Observers
  • after the IQA sends each piece of feedback via a Report.
  • Assessors cannot sign off an Assessment until Summative Feedback has been provided.

Important Notes

  • This process ensures BTEC‑compliant assessment practice.
  • If Assessors cannot sign off, it is typically because Summative Feedback has not yet been entered.
  • Learner visibility depends on the IQA sending feedback through the reporting process.
