Progress weightings is a feature that can be used to change how Overall and Learning Aims progress is calculated for a learner.
When this feature is disabled, progress is calculated from the total number of criteria and the number that are completed.
When enabled, you have control over how progress is calculated, by adding "weighting" numbers to a learner's learning aims and units. Setting weightings for Learning Aims changes how Overall progress is calculated. Setting weightings for Units changes how Learning Aim progress is calculated.
To set progress weightings, follow the steps below:
To change overall progress, add progress weightings to all of the learner's Learning Aims:
- Access the learner’s portfolio
- Click the Learning Aims tab
- Add a number into the Weighting field for every Learning Aim
- Click Save
To change learning aim progress, add progress weightings to all of the selected units for that learner's Learning Aim:
- Click the Units tab
- Add a number into the Weighting field for every Unit within a learning aim
- Click Save
Set weightings against a Framework Template, so that they are automatically set when the Framework Template is assigned to a learner:
- Click Centre in the navigation bar
- Click Framework Templates
- Create a new Framework Template or Edit an existing template
- Click the Learning Aims tab
- Add numbers into the Weighting field for every Learning Aim
- Click Save
You can also edit the unit weightings:
- Click the Units tab
- Add numbers into the Weighting field for every Learning Aim
- Click Save
Changing a Framework Template
Changing progress weightings on a Framework Template can only be done by a Centre Manager won't affect the weightings of any learners that have already been assigned that template. The Framework Template will need to be re-assigned to the Learner(s) for the changes to take effect. Please be aware that re-assigning the Framework Template will override all existing learning and and unit selections.
To see an example of how weightings can be used to affect overall and learning aim progress, download the attachment below.
Progress weighing's only impact actual progress unless the centre setting "Apply weightings to target progress" is enabled.
