How to View Cognassist Initial Assessment Results in the Inclusion Module

✨ New feature alert
This feature is available from Thursday 12 November 2026.

Overview

A new Initial Assessment tab on a learner's Inclusion record shows their Cognassist assessment results, so you can see them alongside barriers, support needs and support plans without leaving the Inclusion module. The tab is read-only — assessments are still carried out and managed in Cognassist.

User Roles

This feature can be used by:

  • Centre Manager (by default)

Access is controlled by a new permission, so any role can be given access (see "Who can see it").

Steps to View the Results

  1. Open the learner's record in the Inclusion module.
  2. Select the Initial Assessment tab.
  3. View the results under Cognassist Assessment Results.

What the Tab Shows

The latest Cognassist assessment results, as a table:

ColumnWhat it shows
DomainThe area the assessment looked at — for example Literacy, Numeracy or Verbal Memory.
Domain resultWhether a need was found in that domain: Identified or Not Identified.
  • The domains come from Cognassist, so the tab shows whichever domains the learner's assessment covered.
  • The results match what Cognassist shows in Eportfolio.

When the Tab Appears

The tab only appears when all of these are true:

  • Your Centre uses the Cognassist integration.
  • The learner has completed a Cognassist assessment (while it's in progress or not started, the tab doesn't show).
  • You have permission to see it.

If any of these isn't true, the tab doesn't appear. If the results can't be loaded at the time, the tab shows a message saying so — try again later.

Who Can See It

A new Initial Assessment permission on Settings > Permissions controls who can see the tab.

  • By default, only Centre Managers can see it.
  • You can give any role access, and change access for individual users.
  • The permission can be set to No Access or Read.

Terminology

The terminology used in this article may differ depending on your Centre or Cognassist configuration.
