Overview
The Learner Characteristics tab holds the standard ILR fields plus any centre-defined characteristics, split into three sections.
Quick Summary
- Core ILR fields: demographics and LLDD & health.
- Monitoring information with academic-year ranges.
- Additional, centre-configured characteristics.
Core Learner Characteristics (ILR fields)
- Demographics: Ethnicity and Sex, each a dropdown of ILR-valid values with a tooltip.
- Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities & Health Problems: LLDD and Health Problem Status, Primary LLDD or Health Condition, and Additional Conditions (a multi-select shown as chips).
With Read/Write access you can add or remove Additional Conditions; with Read Only you can view but not edit.
Monitoring Information
Records ILR monitoring codes (for example EHC Plan, High Needs Student, SEN) with an effective academic year range.
- Select + Add Monitoring Information.
- Choose a code and set an Effective From year (required, defaults to the current academic year).
- Optionally set an Effective To year.
Additional Learner Characteristics
Add characteristics (such as In Care, Care Leaver, Previously NEET) from your centre-configured list; each shows a tooltip with its description.
Tips & Notes
- ⚠️ You can't create two overlapping date ranges for the same monitoring code on one learner.
- Removing a monitoring code permanently deletes it and excludes it from reporting and ILR outputs.
- A characteristic can't be added twice to the same learner.
