Setting permissions by role and by user

✨New feature alert

The Inclusion Module is available from Thursday, 30th July 2026.

Overview

The Permissions area lets you configure who can see and do what across every part of the module, at both role and individual-user level.

Quick Summary

  • Configure by role, or override for individual users.
  • Four levels: Inherit, No Access, Read Only, Read/Write.
  • User overrides beat role settings, which beat the system default.

Setting permissions

  1. Go to Settings → Permissions.
  2. Switch between Role and User configuration. Role reveals a role selector (the Learner role isn't offered here); User gives you a searchable, alphabetical list of users.
  3. Set each permission to the level you need.

Access levels

Access levelMeaning
InheritAt role level, use the system default. At user level, use the user's role setting.

Tips & Notes

  • ⚠️ Archived and suspended users are excluded from the user list by default, and shown with a chip when included.
  • This is the same permission model used everywhere in the module.
