How to Remove Saved Passwords in Major Web Browsers

Saved passwords can sometimes interfere with login attempts—especially after a password reset. Here's how to remove saved passwords in the most commonly used browsers.

Google Chrome

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
  2. Go to Settings > Autofill > Passwords.
  3. Locate the saved password you want to remove.
  4. Click the three-dot icon next to it and select Remove.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
  2. Go to Settings > Profiles > Passwords.
  3. Find the saved password and click the three-dot icon next to it.
  4. Select Delete.

Safari (macOS)

  1. Open Safari and go to Preferences (or Settings in newer versions).
  2. Click the Passwords tab.
  3. Authenticate with your device password or Touch ID.
  4. Select the saved password and click Remove.

Mobile Browsers (iOS & Android)

Most mobile browsers sync saved passwords with your device or account (e.g., Google, Apple ID). To manage them:

  • iOS (Safari):
Go to Settings > Passwords > Authenticate > Delete saved entries.

  • Android (Chrome):
Open Chrome > Tap the three dots > Settings > Passwords > Tap the entry > Delete.

Tip: After removing saved passwords, clear your browser cache to ensure no outdated login data interferes with future logins.
