Create a Sampling Policy

Overview

A Sampling Policy defines how learner work is sampled for quality assurance purposes. Centre Managers, Lead Internal Verifiers and Internal Verifiers can create and manage sampling policies, provided they have the correct permissions.

User Roles

This feature can be used by:

  • Centre Manager
  • Lead Internal Verifier
  • Internal Verifier

Permissions

Users must have the following permission enabled:

  • Can manage sampling policies

Steps

How to Create a Sampling Policy

1. Navigate to Quality

  1. Click Quality in the navigation menu.
  2. Lead and Internal Verifiers can access this under Other IV Options on the homepage.

2. Open Sampling Policies

  1. Click Sampling Policies.
  2. Select Create new sampling policy.

3. Enter Policy Details

  • Name: Provide a clear and descriptive title.
  • Assessor Sampling %: Enter the percentage of each Assessor’s learners to be sampled.
  • Unit Sampling %: Enter the percentage of those learners’ units to be sampled.

4. Set Sampling Type

Use the slider to choose how Summative and Interim sampling is applied:

  • Overall Sample: Applies the chosen split across all affected learners.
  • Each Learner’s Sample: Applies the split individually for each learner.

5. Select Sampling Methods

Choose which assessment methods should be included in the sample.

  • Specify whether the methods apply to the overall sample or each learner.

6. Save the Policy

Click Save to confirm and apply the new sampling policy.

✔️ Tip: Review your organisation’s quality assurance guidelines before setting percentages and sampling methods.
